I took this week as an holiday as the weather forecast was good, however as usual the weather changed with a band of rain moving in from the west. I was hanging around home wondering what to do, periodically checking the feeders when I noticed this female Haw finch gorging itself with seed on my bird table. When it ate its fill the Haw finch flew off to the rugby club conifers, then returned twenty minutes later and posed perfectly on the roof of my bird table. It is a first for me and a garden tick. The photo's were taken through double glazing.
male Hen Harrier - one from a few weeks back that I had overlooked as they were pretty poor -- a brief fly by at Manby Flashes - the only male I have seen this winter
