Whimbrel

Lunch at the Old Success Inn, Sennen Cove today, with my son ,grandson, daughter in law and her parents, and all I could do was watch the Gannets feeding so close to the shore line. I just had to return home for my camera, but as we all know things had changed by the time I returned with the bait fish moved offshore, so once again a missed opportunity. The Sandwich Terns were distant but to save the afternoon migrating Whimbrel gave me a nice fly by.

Sand Martins And Swallows

I visited Marazion late this afternoon until sunset , Marazion was full  of Sand Martin and Swallows feeding voraciously. I find this species very difficult to capture in flight, and to improve my chance of an image I used my 70 to 200 f2.8, as it is easy to handle with a fast aperture that I set on f2.8. The down side is the level of cropping needed for a decent image.

Sunny Sunday

Once again it was catch up birding today, Hoopoo at Brew Pool and Little ringed Plover at Marazion. As usual, this time of year if you don't react quickly you dip, and I dipped on both.However I managed to capture this Black Tailed Godwit and Grey Heron at Marazion.
