Long-tailed Duck at St Gothians

With the unusually confiding drake Long-tailed Duck at Carnsew Basin, Hayle, a first year drake LT Duck has turned up at Gwithian, in Hayle. Not to be outdone he is also very confiding, but not as good looking as the adult male counterpart!

Long Tailed Duck

I went to Carnsew basin today, to capture an image of what is probably the most photographed duck in Cornwall, a Long Tailed Duck. It was a treat to see this species relatively close, as normally they are viewed through a scope half a mile away. Exposure was difficult as it was so easy to burn out the pure white areas of this lovely male. Unfortunately it kept its long tail to itself.

Annoyed at this I went to work aggravated, that I would not be home to take some images. However luckily it returned and Lisa captured a few images on her Nikon D90.All the shots were taken through a window
