Fresh Newlyn Crab

Today was a good day, a field trip with the Cornwall wildlife trust photographic group. We visited Marazion reserve and although two Water Pipits and the Bittern was seen I dipped on all. A group of us relocated to Penzance for Purple Sandpipers usually seen around the jubilee pool, as usual they were there with the Turnstones and some Dunlin. For me the highlight was the two Eider Ducks feeding on crab quite close to the shore. They would dive and catch the crabs then throw them around to break their legs and claws off before swallowing the main body part.
